Police Report: Vandalism of building, car shot with BB gun

These are incidents reported by the Naperville Police Department. Where charges have been filed, the report includes when and where the suspect was stopped or taken into custody and the nature of the charges.

Thursday, Nov. 20

1 Vehicle damage: A resident in the 2400 block of Kingsley Drive reported that between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 6:45 a.m., someone spray painted a vehicle parked in the driveway. The same person’s vehicle also was damaged with spray paint overnight on Nov. 17.

2 Traffic crashes: A series of collisions happened in rapid succession about 3:45 p.m. near Washington Street and Olympus Drive. In each crash, the driver failed to reduce speed or was driving too fast to avoid an accident, according to police.

3 Burglary: A resident in the 1500 block of Fairway Drive reported that between 8:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. someone broke into her apartment.

4 Improper backing: About 9:45 p.m. in the 400 block of South Brainard Street, after a driver was unable to put her car in reverse and a tow truck arrived, the transmission abruptly resumed during the process of trying to fix it. It “lunged backward while the driver door was open, causing it to catch on the parked vehicle next to it and bend it completely backwards. (The tow driver) continued backward and crashed into the metal bed” of a pickup truck behind it.

Friday, Nov. 21

5 Vehicle damage: Between about 9:31 p.m. Thursday and 6:36 a.m., someone smashed the rear window of a vehicle parked in the 2500 block of Saddlebrook Drive.

6 Warrant: Claude L. Shaw, 22, Chicago; charged on a warrant about 11:38 a.m. in the 1400 block of Baldwin Drive.

7 Vandalism: About 11:54 a.m. someone reported that a brick wall of a vacant building in the 3100 block of Book Road was defaced with what appeared to be blue spray paint.

8 Hit and run: About 3:08 p.m. at Cantore Road and Cedar Glade Drive, a “boxy type dark-colored SUV” struck a mailbox, garbage/recycle cans and a light pole and then fled north on Cedar Glade Drive.

9 Theft: A victim told police that between 3 and 3:55 p.m. someone stole her wallet from her purse in the 500 block of Fort Hill Drive.

10 Driving without a license: Connor D. Pennekamp, 17, Bolingbrook; charged with driving without a license and speeding 35 mph over the limit about 7:53 p.m. near 95th Street and the bridge over the DuPage River.

11 Marijuana possession: Aaron A. May, 21, 1300 block Modaff Road; charged with possession of marijuana, driving with one headlamp and improper turn at the intersection near 87th Street and Gleneagles Drive about 9:27 p.m.

12 Driving without insurance: Robert D. Love, 53, 900 block Genesee Court; charged with driving with a suspended license, registration suspended for mandatory insurance and no proof of insurance near Shore and Diehl roads about 9:40 p.m.

13 DUI: Jason A. Colon, 18, 2800 block Cedar Glade Drive; charged with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, resisting a peace officer, improper, absent license plate and permit display, and failure to signal near Conan Doyle and Book roads about 10:12 p.m.

14 Vehicle damage: The rear window of a parked car reportedly shot with BB gun in the 2700 block of Cedar Glade Drive about 10:30 p.m.

15 Driving on a suspended or revoked license: Yessica G. Lopez, 24, Plainfield; charged with driving on suspended/revoked license near South West Street and Plainfield-Naperville Road about 11:07 p.m.

16 Vehicle damage: A man reported the driver-side window of his car was shattered while parked on the 2800 block of Rutland Circle between 7 and 11:43 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 22

17 Battery: A female reported she was battered by a male subject while exiting a restaurant at the 200 block of South Main Street about 12:01 a.m.

18 Theft: Marc A. Hanrahan, 28, Westmont; charged with theft of less than $500 by unauthorized control of another about 12:46 a.m. near East Chicago Avenue and South Columbia Street.

19 Theft: A 27-year-old woman reported that items from her purse were stolen while she was at a bar in the first block of East Chicago Avenue about 1:35 a.m.

20 DUI: Chelsea L. Barry, 28, Lisle; charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a suspended or revoked license, violating a traffic control device, improper lane usage, driving without insurance and a warrant near Aurora Avenue and South Eagle Street about 1:32 a.m.
